Wild Card: Banned
Gill Back at WSOP

June 2, 2012 -

In Wild Card, we’ll present stories, photos and videos from the gaming world that are unusual, provocative or just flat-out entertaining.

Today in Wild Card, we have poker pro Carter Gill, who played and cashed in Event No. 2 of the World Series of Poker earlier this week at the Rio casino in Las Vegas.

That’s interesting news because Carter Gill was de facto banned from last year’s WSOP Main Event after he survived Day 1 in connection with a blurry incident where he threw a girlfriend’s clothes out of a hotel window and then climbed onto a roof to try to retrieve them and …

Long story short, Gill was essentially tossed from the WSOP because he wasn’t allowed in the Rio where the tournament is played. He’s referenced fleetingly in this song.

But he’s back, and in a no-limit hold’em event that attracted more than 2,100 players, he finished 194th for nearly $2,900.

Here, Gill explains to Poker News’ Sarah Grant about the 2011 girlfriend incident that led to his exclusion from the Rio and, as a result, the WSOP Main Event. And he explains some Gill-related random detritus that appears on social media here and there, such as an, um, awkward family photo where someone is shooting a moon behind mom and dad. After seeing a few of Gill’s social media photos, some folks might suggest that the girlfriend issue falls into a pattern of behavior.
