You’ve been reading it for two weeks now. The Sixers are finished against the spread … at least for the time being. Unless, that is, you want to go against them. While they’re still playing well defensively, which was enough for them to build a 17-7-1 record against the spread through 25 games, their offense has lost its balance just enough so that they have failed to beat the line in eight of their last nine games. We felt the shift and reported it oddly enough in the last game the Sixers won, against Charlotte, back on Feb. 13. They did not beat the spread that night. Since then, they’ve lost five straight outright and have not beaten the line in the two games in which they were underdogs.
