It has been a bad week for my ability to pick up a pitcher. Last night’s decision to roll with Hellickson was just the latest in a string that has cost me. playing daily fantasy baseball at FanDuel.
That might be a problem today, but my selection will not be. It did not work out well last time, but Mets top-prospect Matt Harvey is still only $4400 in salary cap money, is facing a Padres team that strikes out with a K rate of 20.8% and in pitcher friendly Petco.
At 1B I will go with Adrian Gonzalez ($3800) against the very hittable Nick Blackburn. Gonzalez is 3 for 7 previously facing Blackburn. In the same game, SS Mike Aviles is a nice bargain. He has seen Blackburn plenty when he was with the Royals, and is 6 for 11 against him. He has been hitting lightly, but is 3 of 8 this weekend against the Twins and is only $2900.
OF Shin-Soo Choo ($3900) is 11 for 18 against Tigers pitcher Max Scherzer.
OF Bryce Harper is cheap at $3500 today, and like the matchup against righty Ricky Nolasco. I think he will run on Nolasco, too.
