Two Philly-area women poker pros made it to Day 3 of the Borgata Winter Poker Open Championship in Atlantic City. Northeast Philly’s Amanda Musumeci finished the second round with 148,000 chips and Bensalem’s Jamie Kerstetter had nearly 95,000 chips. The Borgata’s Winter main event is a $3,500 buy-in and 119 players remain from the starting field of 734.
The winner gets $542,771 and the top 72 players cash for a minimum of $6,785. Play resumes at noon on Wednesday with blinds at 2K/4k/400 ante and the average stack at 185,000 (46 big blinds).
The chip-leader is Marc Goldman, of Easton, Pa., with about 640,000 chips followed by Charlie Townsend, of Dagboro, Del., with 630,000
Kerstetter was nursing a short stack for a while and at one point was all-in three out of four hands, according to the official tournament blog. She won a big hand from friend Alex Queen, from Bethlehem, the Day 1A chip-leader. Here’s how the blog reported it.
Kerstetter is in for 27k and behind with pocket 4s against Queen’s pocket 7s. The two outer hits the river and she stays alive with a set of 4s, while Queen drops to 60k.
Queen was eliminated late in the round.
Kerstetter tweeted, “Ending day 2 of borgata $3500 with 94,900. Coming back to 2k/4k tomorrow.”
Musumeci tweeted that she lost a large pot near the end of the round. She tweeted, “Ugh slightly tilted. Lost like 80k pot vs a tilted guy on 2nd to last hand of the night. Started day w 69k n bagged 148k so its w/e.”
Among area players who are going on to Day 3 are Matt Glantz, of Lafayette Hill in Montgomery County, with 70,000, Matt Brady, of Havertown in Delaware County, with 93,000, Matt Stout, of Galloway, N.J., with 58,000, Joe Verrecchia, of Sewell, N.J., with 421,000, and Daniel Buzgon, of Marlton, N.J., with 347,000.
