The World Series of Poker Circuit event at Harrah’s Chester is underway and will continue through May 7.
Like other WSOP Circuit series, the Harrah’s Chester tournament features 12 so-called ring events. Those are events where winners earn a WSOP Circuit ring, and players who make it to the money in events also earn points toward a National Championship being played in July at the Rio casino in Las Vegas as part of the World Series of Poker.
Because the top 66 point-earners for the entire WSOP Circuit season earn free seats in the $1 million guaranteed National Championship this summer, the Harrah’s Chester event has a bit more urgency for players hoping to win one of those seats. Harrah’s Chester is the next-to-last Circuit event of the season, with the tournament series at Harrah’s New Orleans in May being the final one.
In addition to the 66 point-leaders for the Circuit season, winners of each individual Circuit series main event and the highest point-earners for the Circuit events in a single casino also win freeroll seats in the National Championship.
Most of the buy-ins for Circuit events at Harrah’s Chester are in the $345 to $555 range, with a few higher. The Chester main event is a $1,600 buy-in. In addition to the 12 ring events at Harrah’s Chester, there’s a $1,100 satellite for the WSOP Main Event at the Rio beginning July 7. The WOP Main Event satellite is being played on May 7 and Harrah’s Chester has $190 mega-satellites scheduled to win entry into that satellite.
