Golden Nugget Earns AAA 4-Diamond Designation. When the Golden Nugget pulled back the curtain on its $150 million renovation in April, PhillyGambles called the makeover $150 million well-spent. Apparently, other folks with high standards agree.
The Golden Nugget hotel & casino in Atlantic City has been awarded a 2013 Four Diamond designation from the Automobile Association of America.
AAA rates properties on customer service and quality of accommodation among other factors. The rating system uses full-time, professionally trained evaluators to inspect each property on an annual basis using a set of guidelines that are made available to all establishments, according to the organization’s website.
For about a year, the Golden Nugget went through a $150 million transformation after the current owners bought the former Trump Marina casino-hotel. The renovated Golden Nugget had its grand opening in April. As a result of the makeover, the Golden Nugget now has new restaurants, a retail corridor, poker room, Spa & Salon, H20 Pool + Bar as well as 740 remodeled luxury guest rooms and suites.
Only a handful of other Atlantic City hotels, the Borgata and the Water Club and Caesars Atlantic City, have achieved the AAA Four Diamond Award status in recent years.
