COUNTDOWN TO REVEL: Atlantic City visitors will be able to experience the most-anticipated development in the Shore town in a decade when Revel, a $2.4-billion beachfront destination, begins welcoming guests on April 2.  Guests can being making reservations on March 5 at

The complete resort experience will premiere on May 25, the beginning of Memorial Day weekend.

The April opening is at least a month earlier than many observers were anticipating and it is being billed as an eight-week preview when not all of the resorts amenities will be in operation.

Still, the preview of Revel is certain to generate excitement among the East Coast casino because of the build-up surrounding the project, including concerns that it would ever be finished at all.

After surviving financial problems, Revel’s opening in being seen by the city’s supporters as ushering in a new era for Atlantic City that will also include broader sweeping changes in a master plan developed by the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority.

At Revel, beginning with the April 2 opening, there will be a progressive schedule of select restaurant openings, gaming, performance spaces, spa, daylife and nightlife amenities that will complement the preview.

During the preview, Revel’s guests will experience seven of 14 restaurants created by chefs Alain Allegretti, Marc Forgione, Jose Garces and Robert Wiedmaier.  Additional restaurants will be highlighted throughout the eight-week preview.

Revel will span 6.3 million square feet and stand 47 stories.

Here are the main components.

* Revelry, 61 feet above sea level and named for its energetic and vibrant atmosphere, showcases restaurants, shops, nightclubs, dayclubs, an intimate performance space for 700 and casino.

* The Mezz, 87 feet above sea level, includes a theater with a capacity for 5,500 and 160,000 square feet of meeting space.

* Resort, starting at 114 feet above sea level, encompasses more than 1,800 guest rooms and suites.

* The Lobby, 114 feet above sea level, is nearly two acres of outdoor space anchored by SkyGarden and InOut Pool, a pool that begins indoors and continues outside.

    Not a happy camper!! Have been waiting,& waiting for your resort to open, only to find out it is all non-smoking.That is so DISCRIMINATING & SO UNFAIR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Why not an area for smokers??????
