A.C., Pa. Casinos
Catch Break in N.Y.

June 4, 2012 -

Atlantic City and Pennsylvania casinos got a reprieve when it was revealed late last week that talks broke down between New York and the Genting company, a Malaysian casino firm.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo was hoping to have a $4 billion project built that would have included a massive convention center as well as a casino near Kennedy Airport.

Cuomo has wanted to bring a major casino project to the New York metro area. Already, a slots and electronic table games racino is in operation at Aqueduct race track. But a more ambitious casino project that would have been part of Cuomo’s plan would have provided even more competition with which Atlantic City and Pennsylvania casinos would have to contend.
